Sometimes in New Orleans you just need a moment to reflect on the beauty of the city, especially since it’s not often you find it here after the hurricane. This is a shot of the sun setting over Lake Pontchartrain from Lakeshore Boulevard in Gentilly from June 2006.

While in exile from New Orleans after Katrina from late-2005 through mid-2006, I stayed with my parents in Mobile, Alabama. Mobile is the one true Azalea City, and my folks’ backyard is no exception.

St. Louis Cathedral is one of the cultural icons of New Orleans and the French Quarter in particular. I took this reflection in a puddle in Pirates Alley next to the cathedral in September 2007.

The first weekend of May 2008, some friends and I went to Avery Island, Louisiana, the home of Tabasco Hot Sauce. Part of the island is made up of Jungle Gardens, and that’s where I saw this turtle.
